Cristina Garmendia, President of Genetix
Cristina is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of the biotech group Genetrix, where she has launched further biotechnology companies such as Cellerix, Biotherapix, Sensia, Imbiosis, Biobide and BioAlma. She is also President of Inbiomed Foundation, a non-profit research centre dedicated to the transfer of technologies and research services in the field of Regenerative Medicine.
Previously, Cristina managed the corporate finance and business development at the Amasua Groupm and after obtaining the MBA, she was nominated Executive Vicepresident and Financial Director of the Amasua Group.
She is member of the Bankinter Foundation of Innovation Board of Trustees, member of the Managing Committee of CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations), Member of the Science, Technology and Innovation Observatory (OCiT), Member of the Advisory Committee for Madrid’s Scientific Park and President of the Spanish Association of Biotech companies (Asebio).
Cristina has a Bachelors Degree and a PhD in Molecular Biology (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and also an MBA (IESE; Barcelona). As a consequence of her support of innovation and the success of her own projects she has been recently awarded with the “Fermín de la Sierra Award” (Industrial Organisation School, EOI).
