Mr. John J. Ying, Founding Partner Peak Capital, Hong Kong, and member of the Future Trends Forum, talks about the 'New China' and how it has impact international trade in a conference celebrated in Madrid.

John J. Ying, Founding Partner Peak Capital

Mr. Ying is the Founder and Managing Director of Peak Capital, a merchant banking firm focused on leveraged buyout, growth, special situation and venture capital investments in Greater China that was founded in 1999. Previously he was Managing Director and one of the founding partners of Carlyle Group Asia. He also co-lead partner in Carlyle’s first investment in Asia. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Ying was a Director and Head of Thailand Investment Banking for Merrill Lynch & Co. In Asia, he served as senior banker for major advisory, privatization and financing transactions and in New York as an officer in the high yield and restructuring department. He currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of two private companies, eGoChina Holdings and Shanghai Mecox Lane Holdings, as well as of Tai Ping Carpets International, a Hong Kong Stock Exchange firm. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Ballet, the Chairman of both the Finance and Investment Committees and a Trustee of the Hong Kong International School and a Member of the Graduate Executive Board of the Wharton School. He graduated with distinction from the Phillips Exeter Academy, with honours from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and from the University of Pennsylvania with both a Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School and a Masters of Arts in International Studies.
